Andrew Shelton is a licensed clinical social worker living on the north side of Chicago with his wife, daughter, and two dogs. He is an active member of his community church, as well as a leader in the youth group. In his spare time, he enjoys role playing games. In his professional career, he has worked with a diverse population of children, young adults, adults, couples, and families in both non-profit agencies and private practice.
Andrew attended Loyola University Chicago for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees, and obtained a Masters of Social Work with a sub-specialization in Inter-professional Practice with At-Risk Youth in 2016. He specializes in providing attachment based psychotherapy through a trauma informed lens. He believes that where we have been shapes who we are, and is passionate about helping you find the origin of your current struggles. He utilizes a holistic approach to therapy, employing evidence based techniques from Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Attachment Regulation and Competency (ARC) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Brainspotting.
Andrew’s approach to therapy focuses on the healing that occurs through the development of positive relationships. He strongly believes in the power of a therapeutic relationship to provide healing and support for the long-standing behaviors and hurts that stand in the way of you becoming your best self.
